[Breaking News] CDMA Touch Pro2 Unlocked!

Unlocked PPCGeeks is happy to report that the CDMA Touch Pro2 has been unlocked and is now ready to accept custom ROM’s! The unlocker, posted here, can be downloaded for use on all CDMA Touch Pro2 devices.

As a warning, any user who unlocks and flashes custom ROM’s could void their warranty. Also, flashing any ROM will erase ALL information (Contact Info, Pictures, etc.) from your device, so make sure to back up your device before unlocking.

FAQ from cmonex herself:
-License: You will just have to run the program on the PC with phone connected, normally you will not notice anything about the licensing.
-SIM Unlocker: 10.5GBP for those who didn’t contribute in the community (by donation or by other help such as hacks, tweaks, roms, etc)
and no, the SIM unlocker will not be posted here, it’ll be hosted elsewhere.

Now go have at it!

Thanks to the Elite Team and cmonex for all their hard work!

The “Droids” are coming. All of them!

For the past few weeks, all I have been hearing about is DROID! Droid does everything you want; Droid is everywhere you need it to be (like Times Square), and it’s “App-Mashing and Multitasking”. Seems like another awesome phone, right? And that’s where we are wrong.

PPCG Review: Samsung SBH-600 Bluetooth Stereo Headset

I had the change to review the Samsung SBH 600 Bluetooth Stereo Headset. When first opening the box, I must admit that they looked very comfortable. It was very well-cushioned in a soft leather. The ear pieces were very soft as well as the band. The buttons have a nice chrome finish to them, making them easy to find. I’ll admit, when it said it included a carrying case, I wasn’t expecting much, but boy was I wrong! It came with a very nice leather case that will easily hold the headset, adapter, and a few other things you could pack in there, all with a drawstring on the top.

[Exclusive] Sprint to give customers Free Call Forwarding on Nov. 8th

SprintGV

Here is an excellent piece of information that was sent to the PPCG News Room today. According to an informed source, Sprint will be unleashing conditional (no answer/busy signal) free call forwarding to any phone number, including Google Voice. This means that any incoming call to your Sprint number that encounters a busy signal or no answer will be forwarded to a pre-selected (by the customer) phone number for free.

Also, Simply Everything customers will also begin receiving unconditional (immediate) call forwarding included in their plan beginning late November. On a technical note, this is not available in the system UNTIL after an upgrade, so it will not work until the system has been upgraded. This is great news for any Sprint customer. An added service at no extra cost? Sounds like a win to me!

The guys over at BGR have a source that states Verizon Wireless has plans to take over Time Square’s two largest digital billboards, the NASDAQ and Reuters signs. Verizon is planning on a “first-of-its-kind” interactive experience that will let people control the signs using only voice commands. The image above is a “sneak-peak”.

Another Daylight Savings Time Update Needed? Even For WM6.5?!?

We’ve all known about the Windows Mobile DST update that’s been around since WM5, but apparently its still required, even for WM6.5 devices. It was updated August 2009 and is a cumulative rollup that includes all the changes released in earlier updates.

“Your phone stores the predefined DST dates in a table in its memory. Changes in DST causes the following problems for Windows phones in the affected time zones if the update is not applied:
*The phone will have outdated DST rules and will not honor the new DST transition time. The clock will read one hour off actual time during the new DST period.
*Calendar items will be displayed one hour off actual time during the new DST period.”

Download it from MS here.

It appears as though this update is only for specific countries, and the US and Canada aren’t listed. To see the list, go to the above link and scroll down to the table called “Changes in the Windows phone DST update”.

Google Maps Navigation Beta for Android…Will WinMo See One?

google-maps-navigation
Google has announced a beta version of its new Google Maps Navigation program, that will provide voice-guided turn-by-turn directions on your Android 2.0 device.

“This new feature comes with everything you’d expect to find in a GPS navigation system, like 3D views, turn-by-turn voice guidance and automatic rerouting. But unlike most navigation systems, Google Maps Navigation was built from the ground up to take advantage of your phone’s Internet connection.”

Features include:
-Most recent maps (and business listings) by downloading them as you drive
-Search in “plain” English by using the simplicity of Google search
-Search by voice
-Traffic view by downloading live traffic information while you drive
-Search along route
-Satellite view
-Street view

The first phone it will be available on is the Droid from Verizon.

So, will it come to other platforms such as Windows Mobile? Or is this another way to pull people into Android?

Universal microUSB Mobile Phone Charger Standard Approved

mini-micro-usb-connector Really?  It took this long?

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has just approved the microUSB connector as the standard for GSM mobile phones.

Before now, there were no obvious rules or guidelines in place, this allowed each phone manufacturer to select their method of connectivity (and frustrated consumers)!

Now before you get your hopes up and start throwing out your vast collection of USB cables, this new standard is not mandatory….but Sony Ericsson is already committed, and other manufacturers appear interested.

Now if only the headphone jack issue could be solved…….
