Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 Press Release
Every since I saw the Telus TP 2, I have been anticipating the Sprint version. It seems we now have a rock solid launch date and price. Sprint has recently posted up their News Release with all the goodies that we have been waiting to hear. First off, you can pre-order it September 8th through the web and Telesales. Second, it will cost you $350 with a new two year agreement and after the $100 mail in rebate.
You can read the rest of their News Release Here
Thanks sanmanc

I wonder if people will complain about that price like they have with all the iPhone upgrades. A lot of users on here bought the TP, which was less than 2 years ago I believe.
Anyone not already in a contract will.
Yeah this is a little ridiculous. $349 after the rebate. It should be more like 249 after the rebate. What is sprint smoking???
Well i for one was looking so forward to this phone, and i will be pre-ordering it no matter what the cost.
so….. b4 the rebate, its $450…well ill wait for my $150 rebate in January. Being that the hardware is very similiar, im not going to rush..
looks like im getting a pre
You know I wonder if sprint isn’t bumping the price up so more people will go to the PRE, think about it…… sprint has the pre and YOU HAVE to have the Simply everything plan. Which will cost more in the long run then…. Sprint has the Touch Pro2 and YOU DO NOT have to have the simply everything plans. So make more money off the PRE with the plans, then to sell a Touch Pro without requirements…. Its a shame!
You know, I’d gladly fork over 350 for the HD, but I’m starting to think this isn’t much of an upgrade from a Pro. I mean, what are you getting besides a SLIGHTLY larger screen? 3.5″ jack? Big deal. Let’s get the Leo and then we’ll talk.
Well, the TP is currently $300, so $50 more is okay if you don’t already have a TP I guess.
But I wouldn’t pay $350 just to get a bigger screen and (almost) nothing else. Waiting for the “real” next generation.
I’m not as excited about this phone as I was then the TP came out. I doubt anyone who bought the TP is even eligible for even a 1 year upgrade as the TP came out end of October last year? So without any upgrades this phone will be $650? Not worth it to me unless you just ball’n like that.
I just want BB to pick it up so I don’t have to mail in a gdm rebate… Those things suck.
Will this have that ugly back on it? I like the silver one better. The black starts to chip and the silver will show after some time.
They are only doing direct ship because they are tired of bb having and selling more of there items. Most ppl got there tp from bb at a lower price. That has to suck for sprint…
well I started a new 2year contract for this D@mn pro1 so it looks like I would have to pay the full freaking price, sucks because it was only last November 2nd
The old processor isn’t even powerful enough for the 3.5″ 800×480 screen and they want $450 up front.. I’m going to have to think about this!
nitussi,
How isn’t the processor powerful enough??? I have seen the touch pro 2 and it runs just fine and looks gorgeous. I have also heard that the proccessor isn’t older and is actually more efficient then the one in the touch pro.
when does the touch pro get discontinued??
all you have to do is do a few registry tweaks and take it to a sprint store, they reload it… do the same and the 2nd time they’re replace it with the next best thing because it’ll need to be replaced. *now you get the touch pro 2 for free
i’ve did this since the HTC 6700
Wow, that price is insane IMO….I don’t think so
Finally!!
I talked to a Sprint rep today and told him the price was a bit high. His response was something along the lines of “The reason for the pricing is because it’s a Quad Band International phone, Rev A, WM 6.1 upgradeable to 6.5. This is truly an enterprise class phone”. He then asked me if I had considered the Pre. I need to the upgrade from my wife and she thought the keyboard on the TP was a bit small. No way a Pre would work for her.
So does “.. it will cost you $350 with a new two year agreement and after the $100 mail in rebate” mean that it will be more if you upgrade? I know the TP was $199 for new Sprint customers with a two year agreement and $299 for an upgrade with a two year argeement. Are they leaving room to charge more for an upgrade price?
I was also wondering myself. For example I became a Sprint Customer Since Nov 2008. Got a TP1 with a 2 year contract. $300 – $100 mail in rebate ( I recommended to purchase @ Best Buy because they take the mail in rebate right there and then ) So after taxes it was 323.99. Now I’m a customer with a $150 upgrade. Does the Mail in rebate still count for Sprint users? I am not dropping 400 bucks when I am a SP Customer.
i’ve been a sprint customer for 2 years. i bought my touch pro like 6 months ago off of here for 2300. so im still eligible for my 2 year upgrade.
im a premiere customer so i get $150 off the tp2 plus the mail in rebate. so $549-150=$400-100=$300. so at the most ill pay $400. i’m sure ill get it cheaper because this touch pro im on is my 3rd one that’s messed up on me. so i’ll see if i can get somewhere between a $150-$350 credit on my account for a new phone. i heard your eligible for one if its the 3rd time you’ve replaced your phone. i can’t wait for the tp2 to come out. i’m definitely gettin it.
i meant to say i bought it off here for $300.
Sprint requires a data plan on this phone. Just thought I’d make that clear. You don’t have to have the Simply Everything Plan on any phone, but they’re requiring at least an Everything Data 450 or higher plan on the new phones (Pre, Tour, TP2). Looks like the SERO suckers are out of luck!
And for everyone wanting to change carriers, you’ll be more than thrilled to know – they’re gonna require data plans on all PDA’s and Smartphones too!
Any idea if they got the keyboard issues fixed? I have replaced my TP 3 times for slide out keyboards that stop working.
Yeah, the new refurbs I got the KB’s are working fine, but I am still returning for another one so I can have an excuse to get a TP2
Additional business features available on HTC Touch Pro2 include International Quad-Band capability (CDMA, GSM);
Does it mean that it can run on Sprint and any other network with sim card?????????
Anyone got any hints as to what to tweak in the registry?
i dont understand what verizon is asking 199.99 and t-mobile is asking 150.00 from what i have read last. SPrint asking 450 or 350 for a minor upgrade from the touch pro. As some has point out its only what 2 really big changes well 3 from the touch pro. to spend 350 or 450 is stupid. All the other carriers are coming out with sweet phones while sprint keeps on trying to rip off people with something that looks kewl but in reality isn’t much of difference. HTC is really the blame for the specs but sprint could of pushed for something more powerful then what it is. I want the touch pro but in the end its a waste of my money. Who is to say that the touch pro 2 batter life is gonna be any better then the touch pro. No wonder why people are leaving sprint.
sorry about my spelling it kinda sucks cuz i wrote it to fast.
NOTE. the touch pro 2 and touch pro are nice phones. I have the touch pro and everyone has liked it. When i would wait at the bus stop or work or whatever and i have my phone out people really have complemented me on my phone and i showed them what my phone can do, they wanted and got the phone from there own carriars. But i alway said the battery sucks.
No sure where you got your information from. t-mobile website shows $349 (http://find.t-mobile.com/controller?N=0&Ntk=primary&Ntt=touch%20pro) and could not find a reference to it on the Verizon wireless site. I would think if the price is $349 on the site that is the public price. There may be some special deals for other stuff but it appears that t-mobile is the same as Sprint
BTW: Battery is a known issue that they are working on. Change your task manager to close applications when the X is pressed not to minimize the application. Did that on my son’s TP and it seems to work a little better
